Introduction:
Jars of Clay offers an amazing emergency evening housing program. We serve to respond to the emergency needs of homeless families all over Metropolitan Atlanta. We offer two types of upscale emergency housing arrangements (dormitory housing and walk in emergencies). We do not service men for housing or clients with drug addictions, alcohol addictions or clients that are waiting for a hand out. We cater to a population of clients who have lost housing but not their dignity.
Short Term Housing
Persons who have income and are seeking quick housing are usually reestablished with an affordable apartment (with furniture) in less than 30 days.
Transitional Housing
Persons who may need a little more help, a little training, and a little counseling are offered our transitional housing program. This program permits clients to live in one our private dormitories until they have become a little more stable. The dormitory options have a 6 month program and a 12 month program. This program is good for persons who have little employment direction, have an open CPS case, have little family support or who are diagnosed with a disability.
When clients call Jars of Clay we advise them of our desire to help quickly, the entry process to our programs and the regulations that keep everyone safe and secure. Proper identification is required and criminal background checks are done for all adults. Clients will be required to sign an agreement to act responsible at all times and follow all housing rules.
The luxury of enrolling in the Jars of Clay housing programs are immeasurable! Clients do not have to leave the facility in the mornings with all their stuff like a regular shelter often commands. Our clients may cook personal meals on site, unlike a shelter! Additionally, they have the luxury of phone service, cable and internet. And we help our clients find affordable apartments, we furnish them and we provide assistance with the new move. Clients will be mentored during their stay. Our clients take advantage of the many programs and services provided to them during their stay some programs include: Computer classes, GED classes, web base classes and classes to become a good tenant, better parent, and classes to learn how to manage a stable budget. Other helpful services offered on site include: resume preparation, job leads, transportation, referral services for clothing, shoes, medicine, eye glasses, identification, counseling, legal aid and more! These are just a few reasons why Jars of Clay is one of the most prominent Christian housing programs in Atlanta.
